Putting The Cart Before The Horse: The Mistake Of Sechem; The Mistake Of The Youths Of This Age!
Putting The Cart Before The Horse: The Mistake Of Shechem; The Mistake Of The Youths Of This Age. (Genesis 34:1-31)
Shechem forcefully had the carnal knowledge of Dinah and subsequently seek/sought her hand in marriage from her family after defiling her. In the course of seeking/satisfying his pleasure, he had put the cart before the horse, which resulted in his death and that of his family and innocent ones.
Shechem put the cart before the horse in this wise by raping Dinah the sister of the sons of Jacob and later did what is the right/normal thing to do by asking or making a marriage proposal after he had done the wrong thing or had taken the wrong step:by first of all having his feel of sexual pleasure which cost him his life.
Everything could've gone well with Shechem if he had done the right thing first by making a marriage proposal and getting married before consummating the marriage which would've gone well with him and his family, with lots to gain instead of lives that he and his family lost to his inability to delay sexual gratification and follow the right protocol and instructions that ought to be followed and abided with before sexual intercourse can take place between a mature man and mature woman.
The same error and mistake is what the hordes of the youths of this age and time are predisposed to and engaging in. They'll rather have the pleasure inherent in sexual intercourse with any woman or man of their choice despite the fact that the person they are having this kind of error prone sacred sexual activities with, is far or very far from someone they could call a future partner not to talk of getting married to. They put the cart before the horse in the sacred matters of life e.g. sex and marriage and never take into cognizance the dire destiny destroying consequences inherent in this life truncating escapades!
Putting the cart before the horse, by gratifying the sexual urge first and doing the right thing later destroyed or cut short the life of Shechem and this same mistake is destroying or ruining the life of the countless youths and people out there!
Engaging in sexual intercourse with someone that you are not in wedlock with is like having sexual intercourse with an harlot as the children of Israel saw with what they said in Genesis 34:31. Dire consequences had from time immemorial followed putting the cart before the horse in matters of marriage concerning sexual relationship. Shechem suffered it, you too can suffer similar fate if you decide to tow the path of Shechem. If Shechem had followed the protocol that ought to be followed in relating with a woman sexually, he and his family ( males in his city and his father) wouldn't have lost their lives; and their possessions wouldn't have been possessed by other men! Proverbs 5:1-23, 6:20-35, 7:1-27, 9:13-18.
