Never Escaped!
Never Escaped!
From the doldrums of life,
To the status of high adrenaline and dopamine,
So in a hurry impulsively you want to escape,
In the predisposition to escape that entails,
To cocaine and heroin you fall upon,
In getting so high and high and high!
From the realm and reality of pain and hopelessness,
And so high and high you get,
From the reality of the status quo,
But so far away you are from the reality to know,
That what goes so high is coming down,
From the reality of life the thought you escaped,
With a sniff down here and a fix up there,
But dawning it never ceases to dawn,
That indeed you never escaped!
As the effect and the high went away,
To the doldrums of the status quo you are dropped once again!
With this horse ride you would never escape!
And the horse needs to fly away,
Away from the reality of life,
That unbeknown to them can not escape,
With heroin and cocaine on a side,
And alcohol and methamphetamine on the other side,
With tobacco and marijuana so commonplace,
Sniffing and needling into the veins and nerves,
Puffing and inhaling the toxic of life,
To the degradation and degeneration of the body and soul!
But you can escape!
From the doldrums of life so unnerving,
From the trough that never want to crest,
Escape you can, though impossible to you it seems,
Because very far from the horizon of help,
To behold and grasp to life you are,
To the life in Christ Jesus the Lord over every situation,
To the psychologist and the specialist you turned,
But so helpless to you they are!
To Christ the savior you can turn,
For the escape you direly craved and desire
Never too late now for you it is.
